DC. MoKan/Wild Mtn I'm Justa Gigolo "Dutch"

DUTCH started in the show ring at 6 months. He had consistent class placements until the age of 8 months, when he acheived his first 2 show points on the Washington show circuit. At 15 months of age he placed 2nd in the 2000 National Specialty Sweepstakes. Dutch's show career was then put on hold so that he could seriously pursue his field career. He achieved his Puppy Stake points on the demanding and very competitive Midwest trial circuit and continued campaigning until the summer prior to his 2nd birthday. Dutch was then sent to trainer Sherry Ray Ebert in North Dakota for "summer camp" and the beginning of his breaking for adult stake competition. Dutch came home to Nevada as a broke bird dog and went back to the show ring in June 2002 to attempt to finish his show Championship on the gruelling Idaho/Montana circuit. He returned from the circuit with both majors and a total of 14 points. Dutch finished his show Championship by going Best of Winners at the Grass Valley Kennel Club show Aug 31, 2002. In the Spring of 2007, he also earned his points for his Field Championship title, making him our second Dual Champion dog!

Dutch has an OFA rating of GOOD (OFA Cert # BS-11049G33M-PI), is white and a rich mahagony in color and stands in at 19 1/4 inches.

Spring of 2005
AKC Pointing Dog Championship - Idaho - With 98 dogs entered in the retrieiving stake, Dutch was called back for a second look with just 15 other competitors. Although he did not place, being called back in this prestigious competition was a tremendous honor and testament of his skills. The playing field consisted of the best Gun Dogs from EVERY Pointing Breed from across the nation.

Unfortunately during the Spring of 2005, Dutch was running with a stress fracture in his front right leg that no one knew was there. When the Spring 2005 field trial circuit was finished, he underwent extensive daignostics to try and find out why he was limping. Although all xrays came up clean, Dutch was still in pain and was ordered by the vet to crate rest for 8 weeks. In the beginning of July, when nearing the end of his confinement, Dutch was feeling much improved. On the evening of July 7th, 2005, however, he jumped over the side of the truck and upon landing, broke his right front leg. The resulting fracture was so severe, it spiraled into his elbow, and it was feared that Dutch's hunting/competition days days had come to a sudden end.

On July 9th, 2005, Dutch underwent a difficult orthopedic surgery. There were no guarantees. 13 pins and two bone plates later, he came home and the long, extended rehabilitation process began. 16 weeks later, in early December 2005 Dutch was cleared for some mid season chukar hunting on the promise to the vet that Brian and Dutch would take things easy. (Anybody who chukarhunts knows there is no such thing as "taking it easy.")

In the Spring of 2006, Dutch came back to the competition circuit fullforce.
Central Calif Brittany Club - 2nd place - Open Gun Dog ( 23 S)

Spring 2007
Buckeye Brittany Club 4th Place Open Gun Dog ( 22S)Susquehanna Brittany Club 4th Place Open Gun Dog ( 28 S)

Pennsylvania Brittany Club - Second Place - OPEN GUN DOG (25S) NEW DUAL CHAMPION
Dutch had a setback this season after competing in the International Brittany Club's Shooting Dog Classic (a one hour stake) in late March. At the 35 minute mark, Dutch took a deep cast down a long hill and came up to the front limping once again. Fearing the worst, we picked him up and we feared that his field trial days had come to an abrupt halt once again. We immediately took him to the vet to access the damage and after a series of xrays were told that there WAS NONE! The Dr was convinced that Dutch shook loose some old scar tissue from his surgery site. Soft tissue injuries often take the longest to heal so we needed to be patient and let time, more physical therapy and nature take it's course. Dutch healed up enough to run in the Pennsylvania Brittany Club's Fun Day Hunt Test where he competed in the Master Hunt stake for fun. He did quite well that day, which encouraged us to let him run once again in the PA Club's field trial the following weekend, where he finally succeeded in winning his final points to complete his Field Champion title, finishing him as our second Dual Champion as well.

Dutch is retired now until October of 2007, when, IF he is up to it, he will run one last time in the American Brittany Club's National Open Gun Dog competition, before his retirement from the field trials becomes official. After that, he and HELEN will attempt to gain the final accolades of any polished gun dog's career....and that is to complete the requirements for the Master Hunting Title as well.
